JLT3 - "Bateaux, Chateaux and Gateaux served with Camembert"

Highlights

  • For tyrosemiophiles, "cheese stop" at the village of Camembert to visit the cheese museum (built in the shape of a Camembert cheese)

  • Cider tour to sample the products from Normandy orchards
  • Cycle around "Suisse Normande"
  • Visit William the Conquerors' Castle at Falaise
  • 3 full days of cycling possible, also running trails nearby and a pool at our accommodation
  • A trip to celebrate "joie de vivre"....fantastic cycling, superb food and great fun

Fri 19th Sep

  • Train or drive to Portsmouth to arrive by 9pm
  • Ferry ("Mont St Michel") from Portsmouth at 10pm, overnight in cabins

Saturday 20th Sep

  • Arrive at Ouistreham (Caen) at 06:45
  • Warm-up cycle to "Le Vieux Pressoir" via Pegasus WWII museum, bags transported by car (50km)
  • Arrive at "chateau" for lunch ("Le Vieux Pressoir, Vieux Pont-en-Auge, Normandy)
  •  Afternoon Ride

Sun 21st Sep & Mon 22nd Sep

  •  Cycling around beautiful Pays d’Auge area:  coffee stops, chateaux and gateaux including visit to the village Camembert (and cheese museum), cider tour and much more....

Fuelling up for the afternoon ride.........

Tues 23rd Sep

  •  Leisurely cycle back to Ouistreham (Caen) for lunch at our "pre-ferry" restaurant "Le Roulis" with optional sea swim!
  •  Ferry at 16:30, arrives back at Portsmouth at 21:15
  •  Train or drive back to London
